Smart SVG™ Usage
Smart SVG™ installation instructions have been provided as guidelines and best practices but we do not guarantee any website or application functionality resulting in the use or installation of a Smart SVG™ file. The user is solely responsible for the SVG file they have uploaded into the conversion software, and the use of the converted Smart SVG™ functionality.
Failure to follow our detailed installation instructions may result in adverse effects to your website and your user experience. Please note, at this time, Smart SVG™ are only designed to work on web based platforms and browsers.
Smart SVG™ files will respond to the OS level accessibility settings for the user. All Smart SVG™ files will also include code to respond to user selected color themes. This accessibility setting allows a user to choose a background color and a text color. This responsive functionality (our patent pending IP) will be applied to your Smart SVG™ file automatically. Hypothetically, color themes can display any color combination and will change your Smart SVG™ graphic files to display with those user selected color settings.
Installation Requirements
Basic knowledge of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is required to install Smart SVG™ files. Smart SVG™ files will respond to the OS level accessibility settings automatically for the user who prefers dark mode, so be certain to either install a dark theme before installing your Smart SVG™ or select the “No Inversion” checkbox, preserving your image's intended appearance without color edits. Please note, changes to your CSS may be necessary to accommodate Smart SVG™. We highly recommend your website to have a dark theme installed in order to comply with WCAG 1.4.8 success criteria.
MODIFYING OR CHANGING THE FILE(S) IN ANY WAY COULD CAUSE THE SMART SVG FILE TO NOT BE FULLY ACCESSIBLE OR FUNCTIONAL. EDIT THE CODE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
File Storage
Once you have converted your SVG into a Smart SVG™, Equivalent does not store any data from your project. We encourage you to backup all your files.
Alt Text
You will provide alternative text descriptions for your Smart SVGs, unless they are marked as purely decorative. For illustrations that require extended descriptions, Equivalent allows an optional, additional long description. Our goal for any graphic description is to make sure that everyone has an equivalent experience. Alt text is capped at 250 characters and it is advised to use approximately 125 characters. Long descriptions are capped at 2000 characters. Your Smart SVGs will have alternative text “alt text” embedded, or to be marked as purely decorative so they will work with assistive technologies such as screen readers.
Browser Extensions and Unsupported Devices
Equivalent does not support browser extensions. Many extensions can force a browser-level dark mode, which may or may not affect our Smart SVG™ files. Our Smart SVG™ files are built to respond only to the User’s OS level dark mode. Equivalent also cannot guarantee compatibility with all devices.
Indemnity
This Equivalent Smart SVG™ conversion software is provided by Equivalent Design LLC "as is" and without warranty of any kind. Equivalent makes no representations concerning the safety, suitability, inaccuracies, display issues or errors, or other components of the Equivalent conversion software. There are inherent dangers in the use of any software, and you are solely responsible for determining whether this Equivalent Smart SVG™ conversion software produces graphic files that are compatible with your website or application. You are also solely responsible for the installation of your graphic files, dark theme development and browser testing. Equivalent will not be liable for any damages you may suffer in connection with using, modifying, or distributing any Smart SVG™ files.
Limited Responsibility: Equivalent is not responsible for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages that might arise from your use or inability to use the Smart SVG™ software or Smart SVG™ files. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Intellectual Property Ownership
All Smart SVG™ files we prepare for you, including but not limited to any computer programming or coding developed by or for us, our intellectual property (IP) shall be owned by us and shall be our sole and exclusive property. We retain all of our rights, title, and interest in all materials owned by or licensed to us before, or independent from, the performance of services under this Agreement, and all modifications thereof, and all generic or proprietary information, ideas, methodologies, software, applications, processes, or procedures used, created, or developed by us in the general conduct of our business.
All Smart SVG™ graphic files created under this Agreement are only licensed for use on websites. If you would like to use your Smart SVGs™ in additional locations such as an app, please contact us for additional licensing. If you use any such materials outside the applicable licensed terms, you shall be responsible for any claims that may be made against you or us regarding such uses.

Your agreement to these terms are required before downloading your Smart SVG™ file.
